Headboard heights are generally adjustable between 50" and 90" across the range, letting buyers choose based on room proportions.
Should I get a low or high headboard?
Choosing a high or a low headboard comes down to our needs, bedroom aesthetics and your personal preferences. Deeplay Beds present both options e.g. Static lower profiles versus high headboard ranges.
How do I know which headboard height suits a low-ceiling bedroom?
Generally, a lower profile headboard typically sits well in a low-ceiling bedroom because it helps balance proportions.
Is a split headboard as sturdy as a one-piece headboard?
The split design is used for easier delivery rather than for any strength trade-off.
Can I customise the headboard height on my bed?
Yes, headboard height is a customisable specification (typically adjustable between 50" and 90") alongside fabric, colour and storage options.

How do I choose between a single and a double bed for my child?
A single (3ft) bed suits most children well into their pre-teen years and fits comfortably into smaller bedrooms, while a double (4ft6) is worth considering earlier if your child shares a room, has a larger bedroom, or if you'd like the bed to last well into their teenage years without needing to upgrade again. If space allows, buying slightly ahead of immediate need often means one less bed change down the line.

Look for a supportive, medium-firm mattress that keeps a growing spine properly aligned, overly soft mattresses can allow a child's body to sink and misalign, while overly firm ones can cause pressure discomfort. Breathable, hypoallergenic covers are worth prioritising for younger children, and it's worth choosing a mattress sized to match the bed exactly, since gaps around the edges can be a safety concern for smaller children.
How durable are kids' beds for long-term, everyday use?
Kids beds are made from premium solid wood or engineered materials and are built to withstand years of jumping, playing, and everyday use while remaining stable and supportive through every stage of childhood.
Do you offer themed children's beds?
We don't currently offer beds with printed characters or themed designs, but our Kids Bed range covers a variety of colours, fabrics and headboard styles that can be dressed up with bedding, cushions and room decor to create a themed look without being tied to one specific design a child may outgrow.
Best single beds for children with built-in storage
Ottoman and divan single beds are the best options for children's rooms needing built-in storage, since both give you space for toys, bedding or clothes without needing extra furniture. Divan Beds FAQs
What are divan beds and what are their main benefits?
A divan storage bed combines a solid upholstered base with built-in storage drawers, helping you make the most of your bedroom space. Its clean, compact design makes it ideal for both modern and traditional interiors.
What is the difference between a divan base and a bed frame?
A divan base is a single, solid unit with no exposed legs or separate frame structure, whereas an upholstered/other bed frames offer similar comfort but rely on additional slats or components that a divan doesn't need.
How much weight can a divan bed hold?
Divan beds are built to provide durable support for everyday sleeping. As weight capacity varies by model, we do not publish a standard maximum weight limit. Using the bed as intended and distributing weight evenly across the base will help ensure long-lasting performance.
Are divan beds comfortable and good for your back?
Divan beds provide a sturdier, more supportive base than slatted frames, with their solid platform distributing weight evenly, therefore comfortable to sleep on.
Are super king divan beds better than ottoman beds for storage?
It depends on how you plan to use the storage. A super king ottoman bed offers access to the entire under-bed area, making it ideal for storing larger or bulkier items, while a super king divan bed provides convenient pull-out drawers that are easier to access without lifting the mattress. The better choice depends on your storage needs and the space available around the bed.
Do divan beds come assembled, or in pieces?
Deeplay's beds are generally delivered flat-packed for easier transport and access, with assembly required following the included instructions. However, if you want a more hands-off approach, we also provide a bed assembly service at the fraction of a cost.
What is the storage capacity of divan bed drawers?
The storage capacity of a Divan bed depends entirely on the size of the bed you're opting for. A single divan bed would have limited storage but a king size divan bed would have vast storage space due to the sheer size of the bed.
Should I buy a divan or a framed bed?
Divan beds offer a sturdier, more supportive base than slatted frames, but the right choice really comes down to your room layout and personal preference, both are solid options.
What are the differences between divan and platform double beds?
A divan bed has a solid upholstered base, often with built-in storage drawers or an ottoman option, while a platform bed is a standalone bed frame with a slatted or solid base and a more decorative design. Divan beds are ideal for maximising storage, whereas platform beds offer greater style and under-bed access.
How long does a divan bed typically last?
An average bed lasts anywhere from 5-7 years, however Deeplay Beds come with the general 2-year/24-month warranty.
What types of divan beds are most suitable for small bedrooms?
Divan beds are generally perfect for maximizing bedroom space via their built-in drawer systems.
Are divan beds better for your back than slatted frames?
Divan beds generally provide a sturdier, more supportive base than slatted frames since their solid platform distributes weight evenly, extending mattress life; slatted frames, however, may offer more flexibility and airflow.
How do I measure my room correctly for a divan bed purchase?
Measure the available floor space, allowing for the bed's width and length, as well as enough room to walk around it and open doors, drawers, or wardrobes comfortably. Also measure doorways, staircases, and hallways to ensure the divan base can be delivered into your chosen room.
What types of mattresses are best for divan bases?
The general mattress are compatible with most standard UK bed frames, including Divan beds.
Ottoman Beds FAQs
What is an ottoman bed and how does the gas-lift mechanism work?
An ottoman bed is a bed frame with a built-in storage compartment beneath the mattress where a gas-lift hydraulic system raises the whole mattress platform (Deeplay's models open from the foot end) to reveal the full-mattress-sized storage space below, holding it safely open until closed again.
What are the main advantages of choosing an ottoman bed?
Ottoman beds give the fullest mattress-sized storage footprint of any storage bed type, are described as offering maximum hidden storage, a clutter-free bedroom, no need for extra furniture, an easy-to-operate gas lift, a durable sturdy frame, suitability for small bedrooms, a wide range of styles, and a sprung slatted base option.
What is the difference between a divan bed and an ottoman bed?
A divan bed is a solid, single-unit base (often with side drawers) with no separate frame or exposed legs, while an ottoman bed uses a gas-lift mechanism to raise the entire mattress platform and reveal a full-size storage compartment underneath, giving access to the full mattress footprint rather than just drawers.
What type of mattress is best for an ottoman bed?
Ottoman beds are compatible with any standard mattress type, including memory foam, pocket spring, latex and hybrid; a lighter mattress makes the gas-lift easier to operate, and each model has a specified base weight limit to check before purchase.
How much weight can a Deeplay ottoman bed hold before the gas lift struggles?
Each ottoman model has its own specified weight limit for the storage base, generally in the region of 25–30kg of evenly distributed contents, and exceeding this is the most common reason a gas lift becomes difficult to raise. Choosing a lighter mattress and distributing stored items evenly across the base, rather than piling weight to one side, helps the lift mechanism operate smoothly for longer.
How much storage can an ottoman bed provide?
An ottoman bed reveals the full mattress-sized footprint as usable storage, giving access to the entire base area beneath the mattress rather than only partial drawer space.
Are ottoman beds better than divan beds?
Ottoman Beds have an advantage over other storage bed types due to the sheer volume of accessible space, since the whole base lifts rather than offering only a drawer on each side.
What are the benefits of an ottoman double bed?
The general Ottoman Bed benefits include maximum hidden storage, a clutter-free bedroom, and no need for extra furniture like chests or wardrobes etc.
Do I need a special mattress for an ottoman bed?
No special mattress is required, any standard mattress type works, though we advise checking the specified weight limit for the storage base before choosing a heavier mattress.
Are ottoman beds easy to assemble?
Assembly isn't difficult as the bed comes with detailed step-by-step instructions, and is generally recommended for two people; a professional assembly service is available for a small additional fee.
Can I mix a low headboard with an ottoman storage base?
Low headboard height and ottoman storage are both configurable options that are available.
What are the pros and cons of side-opening versus end-opening ottoman beds?
Deeplay Beds ottoman models open from the foot end (end-lift) to reveal storage.
Are ottoman beds suitable for small bedrooms?
Ottoman Storage Beds in varying sizes are ideal for a compact studio, a cosy box room, or a spacious master bedroom from single to super king, providing suitability for smaller rooms.
How do I choose the right size ottoman bed for my room?
Our size guidance provides a size-suitability table (e.g. Single for 'children's rooms, solo sleepers, compact spaces' up to super king for 'larger bedrooms, maximum storage and sleeping space').
Will an ottoman bed scratch or mark wooden or laminate flooring?
Under normal use, an ottoman bed should not scratch or mark wooden or laminate flooring, provided it is assembled correctly and not dragged across the floor.
How do I stop my ottoman bed's gas lift squeaking over time?
Squeaking usually comes from dust or dried-out lubricant on the gas strut pivot points and hinges. Wipe them clean, then apply a silicone-based lubricant, not WD-40, which can damage rubber seals, along the moving parts and work it in by opening and closing the base a few times. Also check that the storage compartment isn't overloaded on one side, since uneven weight can put extra strain on the hinges and cause creaking.
Can I customise storage options like ottoman lift-up or drawers?
Yes. Deeplay Beds comes with 'optional storage: gas-lift ottoman base' and optional ottoman box available' on product pages, and the site's collections separate ottoman (lift-up) and divan (drawer) storage as configurable options.
TV Beds FAQs
What is a TV bed and how does it work?
A TV bed is a bed frame with a compartment built into the footboard to house a television; when not in use the screen sits hidden in the foot of the bed, and pressing a button on the supplied remote raises it via a motorised lift mechanism, with cabling concealed within the frame.
Do TV beds come with the TV included, or can I use my own?
No, TV beds from Deeplay Beds do not come with a built-in TV; the frame is designed to accommodate your own television, which you purchase separately.
What is the maximum TV size supported by your TV beds?
Under 48 inches any TV can be used in tv beds frames.
Do TV beds come with storage?
Yes, on Ottoman TV bed models, these combine a motorised TV lift with a gas-lift storage compartment beneath the mattress,' though standard TV beds are described as a straightforward upholstered frame with just the TV lift.
Are TV beds suitable for small bedrooms?
TV beds are available in single and small double sizes and are suited to children's rooms, guest rooms, solo sleepers and older children, young adults, smaller bedrooms.
What sizes are TV beds available in?
TV beds are available across all standard UK sizes: single, small double, double, king size and super king, though we note TV bed frames are often slightly larger than a standard bed of the same size due to the TV lift mechanism.
Are TV beds easy to assemble?
Yes, TV beds are designed for straightforward self-assembly with clear step-by-step instructions and all fixings included; two-person assembly is recommended, and a professional assembly service is available for those who prefer a hands-off approach.
How long do TV bed lift mechanisms typically last?
A well-built motorised TV lift mechanism should last many years of daily use without issue, similar in lifespan to the gas-lift mechanisms used in ottoman storage beds. Keeping cables tidy and avoiding overloading the lift with an oversized or overweight TV helps the motor run smoothly for longer.
Do TV beds have cable management to hide the wires?
Yes, all internal cabling is concealed within the bed frame itself, keeping the room looking clean and uncluttered as a standard TV bed feature.
Do TV beds need a power socket built in?
Yes, the bed will need to be positioned near a power socket and depending on the distance, an extension lead placed beneath the bed may be required.
Are TV beds worth it?
TV beds are a good fit if you want to watch television in bed without a bulky stand or wall-mounted screen taking up room space, the TV disappears into the footboard when not in use, keeping the bedroom looking clean. They're worth it for anyone short on space or who values a tidy, minimalist look, though if you rarely watch TV in bed, a standard upholstered frame will usually suit you just as well for less.
Can I use my own mattress with a TV bed frame?
Yes, the mattresses are sold separately and both spring and memory foam mattresses are compatible with TV bed frames.
Can a 43-inch or 50-inch TV fit in a TV bed?
A 43-inch TV will typically fit comfortably, since our TV bed compartments are designed for screens up to 48 inches. A 50-inch TV is usually too large for the lift compartment, so it's worth checking your exact TV's dimensions against the compartment size before ordering if you're near that limit.
Mattresses
Should I buy my mattress and bed base together?
No, you don't necessarily have to buy a mattress along with the bed. It’s optional so you can order either bed frame or mattress on it’s own, or both together.
How long do mattresses last before they become uncomfortable?
Most quality mattresses perform well for 7–10 years before comfort and support noticeably decline, though this varies with mattress type, body weight and how well it's cared for. Signs it's time to replace include visible sagging, lumps, springs you can feel through the surface, or waking up with aches you didn't have before, if any of these show up well before the 7-year mark, it's worth considering a replacement sooner.
How often should I rotate or flip my new mattress?
Most mattresses benefit from being rotated head-to-foot every 2–3 months for the first year, then every 3–6 months after that, to encourage even wear across the springs or foam. Only flip a mattress top-to-bottom if it's specifically designed as double-sided, most modern pocket sprung, memory foam and hybrid mattresses are single-sided and should be rotated rather than flipped.
What types of mattresses do you offer?
Deeplay Beds offers pocket spring, memory foam, hybrid/pillow-top, orthopaedic coil, and cool gel mattresses, in sizes from single to super king.
What should I avoid when cleaning a mattress?
Avoid soaking a mattress with water or heavy liquid cleaners, since excess moisture can seep into the foam or springs and lead to mould or a lingering odour. Steer clear of bleach and harsh chemical solvents, which can break down fabric and foam, and never sleep on a mattress again until it's fully dry after any spot-cleaning. For most stains, a mild upholstery cleaner, a soft brush and plenty of drying time, ideally near an open window or fan is the safest approach.

What does your warranty cover?
Every Deeplay Beds frame carries a 24-month warranty covering structural components (side rails, headboard posts, footboard, centre support), metal fixings and hardware, factory-installed finishes, and moving parts such as hinges and gas lifts on adjustable models.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Please take clear photos of the fault, including wide shots and several close-ups, then email them to [info@deeplaybeds.co.uk] along with your order number or receipt and a brief description of the issue. Please also let us know when you first noticed the problem and any troubleshooting steps you've already tried.
How long does it typically take to hear back after submitting a warranty claim?
Deeplay Beds aims to reply within 2 business days of a claim being submitted.

Professional assembly is worth considering if you're short on time, have a particularly large or heavy model like a king size or super king size bed, or simply prefer a hands-off experience, it's available as an optional add-on for those who'd rather leave it to our team.
How do I assemble a bed frame purchased online?
Every bed arrives flat-packed with numbered panels, all necessary fixings, and a step-by-step instruction sheet specific to that model. Start by laying out and identifying all parts, then build the base frame first, attach the side rails and centre supports, fit the headboard and footboard, and finish with any storage mechanism last. Having a second person to help hold panels steady makes the process quicker and reduces the risk of scratching fabric or finishes.
Do you offer trade or bulk-order discounts?
Yes, if you're ordering multiple beds for a property development, hospitality project, or similar bulk order, get in touch with our team directly with the quantities and models you need and we'll put together a tailored trade quote.

Do you offer support or advice to help me choose the right bed online?
Yes, in general terms, we believe in customer's satisfaction being at the heart of everything we do. From pre-sale questions to post-sale support, our team is here to help at every step, and we encourage you to contact the team about custom sizes or delivery options.
Will my bed look exactly like the product photos?
This is not guaranteed, as our disclaimer states 'actual product colours may differ slightly (10–15%) from what you see on screen due to camera lighting, screen calibration, and image processing,' so colours in particular may vary from the photos.
Can I order spare parts, such as an extra gas lift or bolt set, if I lose the originals?
Yes, we keep spare parts, including gas lifts, bolts and fixings, available for at least five years after a model is discontinued. Email us your order number or model details along with the specific part you need, and we'll confirm availability and cost, which is typically the part price plus postage once your original warranty period has ended.
Do you offer any styling or room-planning advice before I order a bed?
Our team is happy to talk through practical questions before you order like room measurements, size suitability, fabric and colour pairings, and how a particular style will sit in your space. Get in touch with details of your room and what you're picturing, and we'll help you narrow down the right bed for it.
